Become an entrepreneur in 2019

Do I want to become an entrepreneur in 2019? If that question has bugged you for quite some time, this article will hopefully provide some clarity and inspire you to say hell yes to you inner entrepreneurial voice.

As you might have read countless of times before, being an entrepreneur is certainly not a cakewalk. The cake can and will sometimes taste like a dry piece of old bread, but when the sweetness finally kicks in, it will all be worth it. We have listed ten reasons to become your own boss in 2019.

Your personal & professional growth will skyrocket

When you embark on an entrepreneurial journey, you will start to notice how you become challenged in many new ways. You were perhaps used to having a boss that more or less told you what to do and where to be at what time.

That comfort blanket (or for some, an annoying stress blanket), is now suddenly replaced by a mountain of greater responsibility. This mountain forces you to start climbing heights you never needed to climb before. And it can feel incredibly expansive. You are alive and reborn!

As you develop a more diverse skill set to handle all the new challenges, you also realize that failure is nothing but a well marketed illusion. You know how the saying goes: Failing is just another word for learning.

Everything that challenges you and puts your status quo to the test will make you grow, whether it’s designing a marketing ad for the first time or pitching your product to investors who analyze your every word and breath.

And we at Dreamify believe we are all on this very planet to expand and grow while doing the things we love. So let’s climb that mountain shall we?

You are not getting any younger

Even if you can start a business at the age of 95, sometimes later becomes never. You are not getting any younger, and every day of procrastination could have been dedicated to fulfilling that mesmerizing business dream.

A study made by the palliative care nurse Bronnie Ware as presented here, even show that the most common regret people have on their deathbed is this:

”I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me”.

So if you feel you are not really living true to yourself – try to become an entrepreneur in 2019 as a first transformational step on your path towards greater meaning and life satisfaction.

Thrive beyond the 9-5 trap

Doing the daily 9-5 grind in an office might suit some people. But it is important to remember that this is your life and your time, so it’s fair to say that you have the right to decide what you want to do with your 24 hours.

An entrepreneurial lifestyle enables you to setup your own healthy routines and work late nights without losing sleep. You can also release stress by indulging in heartwarming and funny cat videos whenever you want without having to worry about your boss peeking behind your back. That is the essence of freedom isn’t it?

By being your own boss, you finally break the shackles from sterile office environments and provides a sweet escape from that boring ping pong table that you can barely look at anymore.

With a flexible schedule, you can leave for vacation whenever you please. So why not travel to china and play ping pong as it is supposed to be played?

Nevertheless, I believe most of us can agree that swapping work environment once in a while can refill our cup of motivation and provide us with some much needed new perspectives.

You can finally dream big

Dreaming big is oftentimes difficult when you are limited to your specific role as an employee. Convincing your boss to give your vision a chance may take several months due to resistance and the fact that your boss has his very own vision and plan (And rightfully so).

When you decide to be an entrepreneur, all that changes. Suddenly you can aim for the stars and commit to your biggest dreams on full time. And that feeling is hard to put a price tag on.

You become a like a kingfisher who changes direction in the speed of light, always able to steer your wings towards your own business dream.

You are thus no longer slowed down by things you cannot control, such as a manager or corporation who already have a fixed plan in store for you. As Terence McKenna once elegantly said:

“If you don’t have a plan you become part of somebody else’s plan.”

Terence McKenna

Having a clear vision for your business and thus also for your life can sometimes be the only thing that keeps your going during the tough times. It can also inspire you to take the necessary risks needed to get closer to your goals.

Change the world faster

If you want to become an entrepreneur in 2019, you have the opportunity to change the world with your ideas in a highly exciting time. Our world is currently in the midst of a major paradigm shift where sustainability and conscious innovation is slowly being prioritized over growth.

Likewise, the sharing economy is estimated to grow from $14 billion in 2014 to $335 billion by 2025, which is an area every entrepreneur has the chance to tap into.

But whether your business dream has a heavy focus on sustainability or not, you nevertheless have a shot at creating a lasting legacy.

A legacy that you can be darn proud of. So if you have an itching desire to shape a better world and change the lives of other people through your passion, becoming a business owner is a fast track to make it happen.

Because let’s face it, there is no time to sit in cubicles and wait for opportunities to come to us. Don’t wait for someone else to give you permission while sipping on your fifth cappuccino of the day.

You are a powerful human being, and the world can’t wait for you to bring your awesome ideas to life.

Create your very own culture

Every company has its own unique culture. But sometimes a corporate culture is built on values and ideas you don’t fully resonate with, such as a no cell-phones-rule or mandatory AWs where everybody has to pour alcohol down their throats to be “accepted”.

This conflict of values can easily leave you feeling incomplete and hollow inside, as if you are wasting your life away working there. But hey, there’s a solution on the horizon: Create your own progressive company culture!

When you become an entrepreneur, you do not only create and shape a new and more satisfying life for yourself, you also get the chance to create a unique and tailored culture for others to delve into.

You have an opportunity to challenge the traditional corporate cultures out there and explore new ways of running a company.

The possibilities are endless, and your vision leads the way.

It is also wise to remember that the uprising workforce of tomorrow, Generation Z, wants more out of their work life than many corporations have to offer.

So when setting up your own business, you have a chance to attract and connect with interesting people of this generation, and share your values and ideas with them via your innovative culture.

You can become like a family: a community that brings down old and dysfunctional paradigms and transform the world to the better.

Spend time with people you vibe with

Most people who work in 9-5 jobs actually spend more time with their colleagues than with their family.

This really makes you think, doesn’t it? You may love your colleagues and that is great, but if you really value family, then this realization may be all that you need to at least give entrepreneurship and a flexible work life an honest chance.

A traditional 9-5 job may have its benefits for sure. But one of the major downsides is that you can rarely pick your coworkers with whom you’ll spend a significant amount of time.

And oftentimes, we are forced to sit in meetings and work in teams with people we may respect, but still would not choose to be around if we had the choice. At least not for hours day in and day out.

“Life is just way too short to spend 8 hours a day with people whom we’d rather not spend time with.”

The beauty of being your own manager, is that you can seek out and choose to be around people whom you vibe with (On a metaphysical level). These are simply people of your “tribe”.

People that empower you, challenge you and believe in you. In other words, nothing short but a recipe for rapid growth!

The road of entrepreneurship will also spare you many of those corporate events, forced dinners and dull afterworks that does neither inspire you nor give you energy.

Experience the sweet rush of risk taking

If you are thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, you will most definitely have to be okay with taking risks: A lot of risks.

This might sound scary at first, but as you’ve swam in the entrepreneurial water for quite some time, you may even start to enjoy it. The excitement of risk taking simply adds a pinch of spice to your life.

This livening unpredictability might never be truly present if you are to work for someone else. And don’t you think a little bit of spice in the stew makes it all the more so delicious?

However, we must also remember that this risk taking is not about being impulsive, reckless and throw ourselves into wildfire all the time.

That is obviously not very clever. You as a business owner will be forced to take certain risks, but it doesn’t mean you’ll take all the risks that becomes available to you.

Rather, your ability to assess and intuitively “feel” which risks to take will most likely be enhanced with time.

Become a master of problem solving

If you love solving problems, being an entrepreneur will surely provide tons of fun and challenging problems on a daily basis. Problems of all kinds will be thrown at you like basketballs hungering for the hoop.

From tax problems and marketing problems to productivity problems and crying your eyes out knowing that you won’t have enough coffee to make it through the day.

This can be overwhelming at some points, but we all know that it’s the difficult and demanding stuff in life that also provides the biggest leaps of growth. We have no to choice but to become masters of problem solving.

Since you have to face all these new problems, you have no option but to tackle them one by one if your business is to keep rollin’.

And that oftentimes requires the best version of yourself and your sharpest state of mind. But the smell of the reward is usually never too far away.

“Eventually you will solve that problem, which will leave your with a sense of complete ecstasy, mastery and accomplishment, knowing that you’ve just moved a tiny bit closer to the nectar that is your business dream.”

You get to follow your heart in every moment

Did you know that according to the HMI-Institute HeartMath, the human heart is 5000 times stronger magnetically than the brain? To put it in other words, this is the number one scientific reason to why you should follow your heart and let it lead the way instead of your mind.

Your mind is a powerful tool for sure, but the heart never lies and that ain’t no mumbo jumbo folks! You just have to surrender and give it the chance to guide you.

“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.”

Steve Jobs

Become an entrepreneur in 2019

So by shape-shifting from employee to entrepreneur, you can finally start to follow your heart on full time instead of following other people’s hearts.

And since your heart is literally a magnet, this commitment will help you attract things that are aligned with your business vision and what your heart is telling you.

When you learn to listen to that magic chest-pump of yours, you will begin to feel more expansive as life becomes more beautiful, and essentially more meaningful.

Well written. The number one important skill, in my opinion, for entrepreneurs is definitely to be comfortable of taking risk. At least in my opinion. Cheers!
